Don't tell the neocons or U.S. Naval War College #NeverTrump-ers, but presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump and Democratic socialist challenger Bernie Sanders are the choice of a reluctant plurality of America's surveyed men and women in military uniform. That's according to an anonymous and unscientific survey of Military Times subscribers, both officers and enlisted personnel, conducted between May 3 and 6, 2016. We say reluctant plurality of military survey respondents, because a sizable percentage indicated that they would not vote for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton or might not vote at all in a likely head to head race.

#NeverTrump er Tears Taste Sweet:
Plurality of U.S. Military Respondents in Survey Say They'll Vote for Trump or Bernie
It's been no secret for a number of years that since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq followed by protracted occupations in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan that the gulf between Washington's civilian politicians, heavily influenced by messianic hyper-interventionism and neoconservative or liberal 'responsibility to protect' ideologies, and the active duty rank and file services has been growing. Not only as the result of multiple 'Sandbox' tours wearing down good men and women until they leave the Army and U.S. Marine Corps, but also the growing gap between the ambitions of a U.S. and Atlanticist political class that wants to dominate every corner of the planet and an overstretched and worn out military with aging equipment that can no longer do this.
Pentagon Admits It's NOT Ready for the Wars with Russia and China Neocons Want
The recent tacit admissions by multiple commanders testifying before Congress that the U.S. is NOT prepared to fight an all out war with Russia on the Russians' doorstep, the ludicrous cost overruns of the bloated F-35 multi-role fighter, and the Obama White House's enthusiasm for not only imposing female infantry officers on the Army and Marine Corps but soon the trans-gendered (aka the mentally ill) as well are adding to the strains.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey Was Right:
U.S. Intel on Syria Sarin Gas Attack Could Not Justify Going to War with Assad
When the Joint Chiefs of Staff led by Gen. Martin Dempsey pushed back against the Obama White House's rush to war in Syria after the false flag sarin gas attack east of Damascus in August 2013, they stood with what public opinion polls and Congressional constituent communications showed was the overwhelming majority of Americans who did not want yet another war or occupation in the Mideast. Yet it's quite telling that the clear majority and the U.S. Joint Chiefs' impulse to stay out of Syria was viewed by many in Washington as well as defense academics such as U.S. Naval War College Prof. Tom Nichols as radical, rather than their own itchy trigger fingered interventionism being hopelessly out of touch with middle America, from whence the military recruits.
As it turned out, Dempsey's foot dragging against his Commander in Chief's own ambivalent push for war over the East Ghouta sarin gas attack has been vindicated. In a recent interview by The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg with Obama, the former director of national intelligence Gen. James Clapper (the same Clapper who perjured himself before Congress on NSA domestic spying) admitted that the intelligence supporting Assad's guilt in the atrocity was never 'a slam dunk'.
In Washingtonian and Pentagonese, Clapper's language is a nice euphemism for the East Ghouta sarin attack intel ranging from sketchy to [Saudi and Turkish manufactured] bullshit. Multiple Turkish dissidents, poo-pooed by neocons and couch potato frauds such as Eliot Higgins of Bellingcat, have also come forward in recent months to allege that the Turks (possibly with Saudi assistance) gave sarin gas components to their Syrian jihadist proxies. Even more disturbing to the Establishment, have been Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh's shocking revelations that Dempsey and the DIA deliberately leaked intelligence to the Assad government to use against the CIA/Saudi and Turkish backed jihadists destroying Syria:
Signs That the DIA and Military Are Getting Tired of D.C. (and Langley's?) Saudi Arabia and Turkey Firsters Soft Pedaling the Fact U.S. Arms Have Wound Up in Al-Qaeda Hands
With this all being said, neither the Trump campaign nor the Bernie Sanders camp can find the survey results entirely satisfactory. For one thing, the issue of great power war and peace with Russia, a key plank of Trump's platform, remains secondary in the ranks to general dissatisfaction with the Obama Administration's so-called war on ISIS, a war that has made only a modest dent in the Islamic State's territory stretching from northeastern Syria to western and northern Iraq -- and has lacked any legal basis under U.S. domestic or international law!
Those in the know in CENTCOM understood months ago after Russian jets obliterated huge convoys of tanker trucks rolling from ISIS' Caliphate into NATO member Turkey that political considerations -- including the desire to cynically use Daesh to maintain pressure on the Iranian-backed Iraqi and Syrian governments -- have hindered a wholehearted U.S. onslaught against the Islamic State, as well as resisting the U.S.-ally abetted spread of Al-Nusra aka Al-Qaeda's franchise in Syria.
The Pentagon and CIA are arming factions that are literally killing each other in Syria. Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why people like @RadioFreeTom or @20Committee don't want to discuss WHY this is so? Or whether everyone in the Pentagon and DIA thinks the CIA Director has America as opposed to Saudi Arabia and Turkey's best interests at heart in Syria?
Neocons will accuse dissenters of being "apologists" for Islamists while ignoring their own slavish support for the 9\11 funding Saudis

Maybe At Least Some .Mil Are Tired of Neocon Moderate TOW Jihadi/Saudi Akbar Lobby and Sens. 'Queenie' Graham and McInsane Whining About What the Turks Want in Syria?
Neocons, of course, have sought to deflect from the question of whether U.S. Syria policy was bought and paid for by Saudi/Qatari and Turkish interests from 2007 on -- to Obama's alleged wimpy-ness. With the exception of a few at National Review, they've also been conspicuously silent on the so-called missing 28 pages of the Congressional 9/11 fact finding report that reportedly shows direct funding from the wife of then KSA intelligence chief Prince 'Bandar Bush' to 15 of the 19 hijackers who were Saudi nationals. The fact that Obama has been quite eager and willing to kill thousands of 'suspected militants' including during wedding parties with drones from Pakistan to Yemen doesn't seem to factor into Commander in Chief Barry's alleged reluctance to shed more blood via American arms in Syria.
Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren, who has been harshly critical of what he describes as civilian-death causing Russian bombing in Syria, nonetheless went off the neocon script in late April when he admitted that Jabhat-al-Nusra aka Al-Qaeda dominates the Syrian rebel positions in Aleppo, a city from which jihadists have killed hundreds of Syrian civilians with hell cannon, mortar and artillery fire in government-controlled areas of the municipality.
@LeeSmithTWS oh, come on. The Saudis are awful. Useful, perhaps. But truly awful.

Unfortunately for the neocons, the question of whether many a neoconservative or GCC-funded think tanker is pushing America's interests in backing the so-called 'moderate' jihadists fighting Assad, or those of certain Mideast powers won't go away. As Trump pushes back against his neocon critics and veteran campaigners like Roger Stone go to bat for him, we expect further revelations regarding what the Saudi and Qatari royal families are getting for their money with the 'moderate Syria rebel' advocacy of the (Un)American Enterprise Institute, Heritage, the (GCC funded) Foundation for Defense of Democracies, the UK's Henry Jackson Society/UAE-funded Legatum Institute, and most notoriously, the Brookings Doha Center and its Ahrar-al-Sham (Qatar-backed) jihadist friendly 'expert' Charles Lister.
Will al Qaeda and ISIS also line up against Trump along side the Bushes, Saudis, and neocons? https://t.co/uhhHChj8v7

Neocons Pretend Americans Aren't Becoming Increasingly Anti-Saudi and Europeans Aren't Getting Fed Up With the NATO's ISIS Terrorist and #Immivasion Sponsoring Turks
Another unfortunate point for neocons, interventionists and Establishmentarians who tout the inviolability of 'muh Amurrican allies!' is how angry many Americans will get once they realize U.S. special ops personnel are risking their lives if not dying to bail out a Saudi regime in Yemen that supported the 9/11 hijackers and whose princes continue to fund Wahhabi mosques that hate us. In short, not only do many Americans loathe the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the extent that they think about the Saudis at all, but millions of Europeans despise the government of Turkey if not Turks as a people and wish they'd finally get kicked out of NATO. A President Donald J. Trump, despite considerable pressure from the Israelis who've kissed and made up with the 2010 Gaza flotilla and Muslim Brotherhood-backing Islamist maniac Erdogan, may actually have the balls to grant European nationalists their wish, and kick the Turks out.
At any rate the neocon and Atlantic Council fantasy that NATO will never pay a price for keeping the Kurdish massacreing, journalist imprisoning and mass Muslim migration blackmailing leaders in Ankara inside the Alliance's big tent is a delusion -- and one that the anti-Turkish rhetoric and electoral results surrounding a #Brexit, and the rise of nationalist parties across Europe like the National Front in France will soon expose.

Back in the Arlington, Virginia E-ring, decent men and women in the military and particularly in the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) have watched as the pro-Sunni militant if not jihadist-abetting Obama Administration and CIA have offered ridiculous claims about humanitarian considerations and fears of civilian casualties precluding more intense bombing and the direct deployment of the Army or Marines to fight Daesh. They have observed carefully for months as the Obama Administration touted its 'get tough' with Daesh approach, its training of the YPG Kurds and some Syrian Arab fighters to tackle Daesh, but the B-52 carpet bombing of the Daeshbags somehow never materialized.

Underlying all of these problems and the suspicions in the alternative media and across the Shi'a Middle East that 'ISIS=USUS' is the Obama Administration continuing to treat former or more likely present Islamic State sponsoring 'allies' Saudi Arabia and Turkey with kid gloves. Naturally, the different approach that Trump would offer in the form of telling Ankara and Riyadh to go screw themselves while marching into Raqqa with U.S. troops destroying Daesh side by side with Syrian Arab Army, Kurds and the Russians does not sit well with the neocons or Cold War 2-obsessed Establishmentarians.

For these types, no matter how much death or mayhem ISIS may inflict in Europe or in the 'Syraqi' territory it holds, fighting Assad, Iran and the Russians by proxy remains far more important than simply crushing the Caliphate. The proof is in the pudding when people like Prof. Nichols' neocon 'friend' [http://tomnichols.net/blog/2015/03/29/isis-inside-the-army-of-terror/] the author of ISIS: Inside the Army of Terror Michael D. Weiss gleefully tweet about Daesh tactical advances against the Syrian Arab Army, while ignoring subsequent retreats in the face of Russian airpower and Russian-aided Syrian artillery strikes.
@Charles_Lister Fisk got it right and you know it! You also know that Al-Nusra and Brookings are funded by the same "friends"
— عابر سبيل (@GeorgesWinner) May 11, 2016
Brookings Doha Center 'expert' @Charles_Lister was very angry that The UK Independent published a Robert Fisk story calling him exactly what he and other Sunni-firster think tankers are: shills for Syrian jihadists backed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar that claim to be 'moderate' while fighting alongside Al-Qaeda aka America and the West's enemies in Syria and attacking the only actual non-Assad/Iranian/Russian force fighting ISIS there, the YPG Kurds
At a certain point, not only those outside of government but in the DIA or Pentagon itself may grow tired of even gentile neocons crying 'anti-semitism!' or 'anti-Israel' to distract from eager eager Beltway whoring on behalf of Semites of the Gulf Cooperation Council petrodollar-spreading variety. At the very least, one of the reasons that neocons have greeted Trump's rise with fear and rage is because The Donald is basically teflon on the anti-Semitism or anti-Israel charge, while quite capable of throwing the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) book at the think tankers that tried unsuccessfully to drag the U.S. deeper into war in Syria.
Hillary! supporters including Trump-hating neocons meanwhile, can console themselves about the Military Times survey results that Clinton still enjoys significant support among officers, perhaps owing to familiarity with her as Secretary of State. The survey shows that U.S. Navy members also tilted more towards Hillary than did more male dominated services like the Marine Corps -- which strongly break for Trump.
Nonetheless, when neoconservatives and neocon-friendly .mil academics like Tom Nichols promote the tweets of active duty or former servicemen who tweet out '#NeverTrump, they are clearly overstating both the passion of opposition in the ranks to The Donald as well as the general politicization of the military, which is wary both of Republican warmongering and Democratic experiments with social engineering and feminism in the ranks. With the Clintons back in the White House, the U.S. military can probably expect the worst of both worlds.
Not surprisingly then, gearing up to fight the Russians on their doorstep in Moldova or Ukraine with a size able contingent of overweight or incapable to serve in the infantry females or even a few trans-gendered 'men' or 'women' is probably not high on the vast majority of Army or Marine Corps officers wish list. But if Hillary Clinton wins the White House as people like Prof. Nichols hope she will over Trump, that's what many fine officers in our military can expect -- if not a real, shooting war with Russia. And [short disclaimer here] by shooting war we don't mean Armageddon aka The Day After/Threads nuclear war. We mean Russian "shock and awe" dropping a monumental hammer on whatever dumb bastard cannon fodder the neocons exploit alongside a few U.S. mercs and advisers, whether Ukrainian, Romanian, or most likely, Turkish.
To all our veterans and active duty military -- we love you. Don't be THAT guy bleeding and dying alongside SS rune flag waving Azov Ukro-Nazi losers or Turkish Grey Wolves who wind up along some highway of death outside Tiraspol, Donetsk or Aleppo. Choose life, choose peace, vote your conscience or don't vote, but DO NOT vote for Hillary!
