The Russians, Syrians and Iranians have clearly had enough after Washington's pro-ISIS treachery at Deir Ez Zor, and they are calling the Obama White House and the neocons' 'no fly zone' bluff. Standing behind them is the People's Republic of China, which announced in mid-August through a high level admiral's visit to Damascus that the People's Liberation Army would step up advising and equipping the Syrians. During the UNSC session while U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power berated the Russians for allegedly creating more terrorism through indiscriminate bombing of Aleppo, Russian UN envoy Vitaly Churkin responded to the combined U.S.-UK-French statements by declaring that Washington was cynically turning a blind eye to the terrorists' shelling of civilians in government-held Aleppo using 'hell cannon's (gas canisters filled with shrapnel) and its Sunni Persian Gulf allies arming of Jabhat al-Nusra, the UN designated terror organization now rebranded as Jabhat Fatah al-Sham.
Churkin also said the Americans failed to separate al-Nusra which Secretary of State John Kerry called 'enemies' of the United States, from the so-called moderate rebels, and demonstrated bad faith in ignoring this provision of the ceasefire negotiated with Moscow. Under these conditions, Churkin warned, upholding the ceasefire agreement is impossible as there is no indication the Americans or their Sunni Gulf allies can control their jihadi proxies and make them abide by it.
Regarding the wrath of the hag-like figure of Samantha Power (who may very well practice witchcraft like one of her globalist patrons Hillary Rodham Clinton) retired Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) analyst and Army Colonel Patrick Lang had this to say:
Naturally, Amb. Power's remarks simply skipped over the issue of whether Washington bears any responsibility for the war crimes and atrocities of the 'moderate' jihadists the CIA helps to arm, while directly blaming Russia for every civilian killed by Syrian artillery fire and bombs. Power also completely omitted threats made by Al-Nusra/JFaS, which has over 2,000 fighters in east Aleppo, to attack UN designated humanitarian convoys to express their displeasure of U.S.-Russian cooperation and total rejection of the ceasfire!
After the conveniently timed convoy attack which the White Helmets just happened to be in perfect position to supposedly film (though the authenticity of the footage is disputed, much like the Russian bomb fragments photographed at the site in the absence of any craters of the type 500 pound bombs even those equipped with cluster munitions would leave at the scene), the rhetoric across virtually the entire Atlanticist media has been dialed up to a near hysterical frenzy regarding the urgent need for the U.S. military to 'do something' to stop the 'Assad regime onslaught on Aleppo'. Nevermind the rebels onslaught from east Aleppo against civilians in the western, government controlled part of the city. But as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford Jr. made clear in his testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee last week, the U.S. cannot enforce a no fly zone over all of Syria's territory without waging war against the Syrians and their Russian allies. And Dunford made it brutally clear, "That's not a decision I'm going to make".
Unlike perspective Secretary of Defense in a Hillary Clinton Administration Evelyn Farkas, Dunford and the Joint Chiefs have no illusions about using only 'stand off weapons' like Tomahawk cruise missiles the Russians have already demonstrated the capability to jam and take down using electronic means. Nor does Dunford seem to believe that his forces can get away with shooting down Syrian jets without American F-16s/15s/22s facing Russian Su-30/33/35 escorts, if not tit for tat shoot downs of American aircraft by Russian (or Russian-directed Iranian S300) air defense systems defending Syrian airspace. Dunford also said that there would absolutely be no intelligence sharing with the Russians going forward, despite the ceasefire agreement calling for pooling intel between the two sides on supposedly common enemies al-Nusra and ISIS.
Even if Washington is unlikely to follow through on neocons like Laura Rozen's threats to shoot down Syrian Air Force jets even in the face of inevitable Russian Air Force escorts like the Su-30/35s based at Kheimmim or the Admiral Kuznetsov's Su-33s now ready to perform sorties over Syria from the Mediterranean, there is other mischief it can attempt. The jihadists could try another break through against the heavily fortified Syrian Arab Army lines constricting east Aleppo, as they did with temporary success in August at a cost of between 1,000 and 2,000 jihadi KIA and perhaps an equal number of wounded fighters.
In the absence of another jihadi offensive due to a lack of manpower, armored vehicles and 'technicals' that could avoid being relentlessly bombed by Russia on the highway from Idlib to Aleppo, there are a few other things the Pentagon could do. One of those gambits according to Ft. Russ contributor Joaquin Flores of the Center for Syncretic Studies would be to para-drop 'humanitarian aid' into east Aleppo in the form of TOW anti-tank missiles. But what happens the next day when the cameras on circling Russian drones record only gun toting jihadists, rather than civilians collecting the 'aid, and that footage winds up on RT as more proof of Washington's lies?
Thus far Bellingcat and the usual sock puppets pushing the foregone conclusion that the evil Russians deliberately bombed a humanitarian aid convoy using two SU-24 bombers that miraculously left behind no bomb craters are talking to each other, but the disconnect that has plagued neocon ambitions for Syria from the start of the war limits any sort of public 'outrage' for war. It's reminiscent of that slogan from the Vietnam Era, "What if they gave a war and nobody came?" The jihadists, GNGOs and alCIAeda have certainly showed up, but the globalists are still writing checks ordinary Americans and large swathes of the military don't want to cash in blood.
Perhaps most urgently for the calculations behind what Washington will do next, did the Russians really destroy using Kalibr cruise missiles an operations room full of Saudi, Qatari and perhaps British and American operatives assisting the anti-Assad jihadists on September 20? Like Southfront.org's editors we were skeptical of the claim and viewed it as Iranian misinformation until proven otherwise. While forensic evidence or footage has yet to surface from the alleged Kalibr missile strike on a caveside between Aleppo and Idlib provinces, Kurdish micro-blogger @Agitpapa was able to ID the mountain seized by the 'moderate' rebels using Turkish artillery support in 2012 where the strike may have taken place. @Agitpapa also has a useful thread suggesting the aid convoy supposedly bombed by the Russians and Syrians using cruise missiles, barrel bombs dropped by helicopters, and jets according to the liars of White Helmets were in fact destroyed using thermite explosives pre-set on the ground. And there are indeed multiple caves in the area which could have been converted into operations bunkers to direct the jihadi offensives in Aleppo and north Homs.
If the Russians did in fact target a facility where they knew there were U.S. personnel or at least Saudis and Qataris who work for and with CENTCOM, then it tells the Russia Analyst that Alexandr Dugin's 'slip of the tongue' in his Katehon YouTube cast last week was anything but. Meaning when Dugin said the Americans bombed 'our guys' he meant that literally, Russian advisers or spetsnaz embedded with the Syrian Arab Army in Deir Ez Zor may have been killed or injured by the U.S. F-16s and A-10s. The Warthogs being low flying, close air support jets that use their cannons for strafing runs makes the American story of mistaking the SAA for ISIS all the less credible. So essentially what may have happened was something out of a mob war, where you hit one of ours 'accidentally', we kill some of yours 'accidentally'. And there are plenty of ISIS targets of opportunity that can be struck at danger-close distances to U.S. or British special forces supposedly fighting the Islamic State across eastern and northern Syria.
Nonetheless, while we do not doubt the Russians would kill and have already killed many Saudi or Qatari special forces soldiers embedded with the jihadists, we have our doubts about whether Moscow would risk its current detente with the Turks and Israelis by striking their intelligence officers deliberately. And we aren't the only ones in the alternative media who remain skeptical of the story. There are however many questions raised by the reported Kalibr missile strike, such as to what extent the American chain of command is actually operating, and how well the U.S. can protect its servicemen particularly the special forces inside Syria from getting bombed, or even worse, getting suicide bombed by their 'moderate' takfiri allies of the 'Free Syrian Army'.
The Saker in his analysis of the 'rogue' Deir Ez Zor strike has come to the conclusion that there is no longer a unified working chain of command for the U.S. in Syria, meaning some elements of the Pentagon working in tandem with the worst neocons of the State Department and (Al)CIA(eda) sabotaged the ceasefire deal. This is also the conclusion of former MI6 agent Alastair Crooke. Others more cynical than The Saker argue the whole thing is good cop/bad cop, kabuki theater between 'nice' Obama/Kerry and humanitarian Irish banshee of war and consort to Cass Sunstein, Samantha Power. IF the dead republic's institutions of civilian control are still functioning and a lame duck president isn't afraid of being JFK'd in perhaps the ultimate October Surprise, Obama could fire Lt. Gen. Townsend, Samantha Power or CIA Director John Brennan at will. The fact that Obama does not do so suggests that:
A) Obama secretly agrees with what the 'hardliners' are doing to wage Cold War 2.0 by all propaganda and proxy war means necessary or
B) Obama is simply 'checked out' and counting down the days to chooming on the beach in Hawaii in between $1 million a pop speeches paid for by Goldman Sachs.
The Russia Analyst strongly lean towards explanation B rather than A, as for all Obama's post-colonial and Marxist malice towards the historical American nation and the republic he is more lazy than competent. But we would also point out that the notion of 'rogue generals' or more accurately a rogue Cocaine Import Agency that itself can intimidate presidents who get in their way too often is convenient for Moscow's diplomacy. Which is precisely why Vitaly Churkin asked who exactly is in charge in Washington in his remarks of a week ago. And why American retiree 'Auslander' writing at the Saker blog from his perch in Russia's Crimea, suggests that it ultimately deoesn't matter whether you're talking about a weak president or a runaway Deep State addicted to Cold War 2 and war itself. What matters is that America's warriors, for all the bravado if not crazed hubris of their political masters, don't want to go to war with Russia. And Dunford's statement to neocon idiot Senators is the latest proof:
